After a jam-packed weekend filled with a 16 team .5 PT PPR draft, and a 12 team one keeper .5 PT PPR money league draft, I have some interesting notes, comparisons, and shockers from both. I used a draft strategy taking 4 RBs, then 4 WRs, filled my bench with more RBs and WRs before ending my drafts with a QB, TE, DEF, then K. Below are my rosters for each.

The Recap
As weird as it looks, my 16 team league roster looks better than my 12 team league. This is probably a function of the quality of the players in that league......
As you all know (from my rookie report), I love David Montgomery, so I took him in both. Marvin Jones JR is a guy that too many people are sleeping on. He only had one game last year (before his injury in week 10) he scored under 5 pts. He was over 9pts four times, over 20 once. He has a chance to bounce back huge this year, and I took him in both. Defense and kicker are the same, I’m a Packer fan, and Rosas is extremely accurate (32 for 33 on FGs last year) on a team that will kick a lot of field goals. What stands out, however, is the extreme depth I have at the two most important positions in fantasy football, running backs and wide receivers. It’s safe to say (on paper) that my strategy worked. In both drafts, multiple QBs went in the first round. In the 12 team league, the three elite TE’s went in round 2. The absolute biggest shock was Saquon falling to me at 2. “Mahomes is projected to have more points this year.” While this nimrod is correct in saying that, he fails to realize the point spread between his 1st round QB and my 13th round QB is similar to the difference in Saquon and his RB 1 D. Freeman. My rule is simple, DO NOT TAKE A QB EARLY. Its simply is not worth the value. Will Mahomes end up as the QB 1 this year? Probably. It’s still not worth the cost of taking a QB high and missing out on an RB. Now I may come back at the end of the year and be completely wrong, but I have a feeling I will be fighting for a fantasy championship in both leagues, and the elite QB teams will struggle to get into the playoffs.
