Jets vs. Bengals Analysis
The Bengals look like a whole new team with Joe Flacco under center. Not only can he command the offense and score points, but these drives control the clock, which puts less pressure on the defense. Last week, the Bengals had 34 minutes time of possession, compared to an average of 25 minutes the prior 3 games under Jake Browning. On the other side of the ball, the Jets stink. Justin Field isn't even the 32nd best QB in the league, because a lot of teams have 2 QBs that are better than him. And now take away his #1 receiver in Garrett Wilson. The Jets only hope of not getting steam rolled is their defense, which is middle of the pack in terms of total yards against both the pass and run. But they rank deadlast in takeaways, with just 1 in 7 games. The Bengals, especially being at home, should easily win, but if the Jets somehow manage for force a few turnovers it could be close. The GridironAI models all like the Bengals. I'm splitting the actions between the Bengals Moneyline and Bengals -5.5 (both bests lines available at DraftKings right now at -270 and -5.5). The team total model has a projected score of 23-15 in favor of the Bengals, which implies value on the Under 44.5. Jets Team Total Under 19.5 also isn't a bad play if you prefer that.
Cowboys vs. Broncos Analysis
A lot of people are high on the Cowboys as their offense continues to put up big numbers. I'm still not a believer in this team. Their wins have all been against relatively soft teams; Commanders, Jets, Giants. Even their tie against the Packers has been getting diminished as the Packers have been underperforming after their Week 1 win over the Lions. The Cowboys have struggled on the road, with their only win being against the FCS New York Jets. Now they have to go to Mile High Stadium and play in the altitude. The Broncos are the best defense the Cowboys have faced so far. Dak Prescott has been playing well above expected, especially when it comes to interceptions. In the past 4 seasons, Dak had 40 picks in 53 games. This year he has just 3 in 7 games. If he throws 1-2 interceptions, the Cowboys will have no chance. On the other side of the balls, the Broncos are riding a 4 game win streak. They are undefeated at home, and their 2 losses have been by a total of 4 points. Granted, they only team they blew out was the Browning led Bengals, they have played tough opponents in the Eagles, Colts, and Chargers. Bo Nix has looked stellar at points, and subpar at others. But against this last ranked Cowboys defense, he should do well. I think this is the game that Dak and Cowboys offense come back down to earth. While the spread models like the Cowboys +3, I think that's driven by all of the close games that Denver has had. The Moneyline models all like the Broncos (currently -180/-185). The team total model has a projected score of 25-24 in favor of the Broncos, which implies value on the Under 51.5.
