Week 8 TNF Picks
| Pick | Opponent | Units |

| LA Chargers Moneyline (-170) | vs Minnesota Vikings | 4U |

| Chargers / Vikings Over 44.5 | Game Total | 2U |
The Chargers came into the season with expectations of being a playoff team and competing with the Chiefs to win the AFC West. They had big wins in the first 3 weeks over the Broncos and Chiefs, but then losing to the Giants and Commanders, and barely beating the Dolphins seems to have them trending in the wrong direction. The loss of their top 2 running backs, Omarion Hampton and Najee Harris, has definitely hurt, but Kimani Vidal seems to be holding his own in the starting role. Defensively these teams are pretty even across most metrics; pass defense, run defense, sacks, and red zone efficiency. This game should be decided on the offensive side of the ball, in particular, turnovers and redzone. The Chargers rank 2nd to last in red zone TD efficiency, way below their 2024 level. Both teams have done a poor job of protecting the ball, the Chargers with 10 turnovers in 7 games, the Vikings with 11 in 6 games. Justin Herbert has had a pedestrian season so far. His numbers are nothing to gloat about, especially his interception rate, which is on pace to be his highest since 2021, his sophomore season. On the other side we have Carson Wentz, who I think stinks. There is much more upside potential on the Chargers and Herbert's performance. I don't expect the Chargers inept performance in the red zone to continue, so they should produce more touchdowns, which will lead them to the win and produce some scoring. Minnesota hasn't played a true road game since Week 1. Although SoFi is probably the worst stadium in terms of home field advantage, I do expect the Chargers to get it done tonight. I don't love laying the 3.5 points, especially since the Viking have been able to keep it close in their losses. I'm going to lay the juice with the Chargers on the Moneyline -170. The main GridironAI ensemble model has the Chargers winning at 61%, but one of the other highly predictive models has that percentage at 64.2%, which equates to a price of -180 (so any bet -180 or better has mathematical expected profit). The team total model has a projection of 25-22 in favor of the Chargers. This total of 47 implies value on the Over 44.5. Again, I think the Chargers red zone play should improve to produce more touchdowns, which can get the total score over 44.5.
