The Chiefs have looked really good lately, manhandling the FCS Raiders last week, and easily beating the Lions the prior week. Now they are at home again facing an inconsistent Commanders team with Marcus Mariotta under center. The Chiefs offense ranks 5th in yards per game, and the defense ranks 4th. That's a solid combination. However, the Chiefs will be down 2 starting offensive lineman, which can have a huge impact on the run game and pass protection. On the other side of the ball, the Commanders defense has struggled, ranking in the bottom third in yards and points allowed. Their defense only has 3 takeaways, which is second to last in the league, going against the Chiefs, who rank first in fewest giveaways. They played one amazing game, where they beat the Chargers by 17, snatched defeat from the jaws of victory against the Bears with turnovers, and got smacked by Dallas's offense. The Commanders get back their #1 WR, Terry McLaurin, who missed the last 4 games, and #2 WR, Deebo Samuels, who missed last week. The Chiefs are slightly below .500 as a double digit favorite in the last 3 years; 24-25-2. The Commanders could keep the game close, and there's always the backdoor cover with a spread of this size. The Gridiron team scoring model has a projection of Kansas City 30-18, which almost perfectly reflects the points spead of 11 and a line total of 48. The main spread models do like the Commanders to cover at 58-65%. I'm going with the Commanders +10.5 tonight.
