Steelers vs. Lions Analysis

The line was at 7 all week, and has steamed up to 7.5 at some books. This is a battle of 8-6 teams. I know the Lions are historically better at home, but they've lost twice there; to the Packers and Vikings. This is not the same team that earned the #1 seed last year. Yes, their offense can be explosive. They rank top 5 in yards per game in the air and on the ground, and are number 1 in points per game. This is far cry from the Steelers that are bottom 10 in the air and on the ground. But the Steeler get it done other ways, as they rank 13th in points per game. Defensively, these teams are pretty evenly matched; middle of the pack. Both teams are top 5 in turnover margin as well. Of the 6 Steeler losses, 3 have been by less than a touchdown. Both teams are fighting for their playoff lives, so this should be a really good game. I trust Steelers coach, Mike Tomlin, more than Lions coach, Dan Campbell. Tomlin is the longest active tenured NFL coach in the league. Dan Campbell is a meathead who believes is going for every fourth down. Could I see the Lions whipping the Steelers this game and putting up 40+ points. Sure. But I think a close game is much more likely. Remember the NFC Divisional game last year? The Lions were the #1 seed at home against the Commanders. They were expected to crush the Commanders. The Commanders came in and beat them 45-31. The Lions are 0-5-1 against the Steelers in the 21st Steelers. Of course, the Lions were terrible for the first 2 decades of this century. I'm not betting the game on the random fact, but it's certainly interesting. I'm rolling with the fact that every single GridironAI likes the Steelers to cover, and that's why it's our biggest play of the season.
