Cardinals vs. Texans Analysis
On the surface I understand why this line could be 10.5. The Texans have the #1 defense in the league, they just handily beat the Chiefs in primetime last week by 10 points, and are riding a 5 game winning streak. Meanwhile, the Cardinals are 3-10, losers of 10 of their last 11 games, and the got boat raced last week by the Rams. But the Texans offense is nowhere close to the Rams, which is a top 5 offense. In fact, these two teams are pretty balanced offensively. So this really comes down to their defenses. The Cardinals are bottom 10 in this category. Turnovers could certainly play a factor, as the Texans rank second in turnover margin. The models all liked the Cardinals to cover at 9.5, and now it's up to 10.5, with key being a key number. This game could be close, and there's always the backdoor garbage time cover. The GridironAI team scoring model actually has the Cardinals winning this game 26-24! Raiders vs. Eagles Analysis
Initially this one makes me nervous. We were heavy on the Raiders last week, and need a garbage time field goal as the clock expired to cover the +8 against the Broncos. Now the line is 12.5 and it's against the Eagles. As I've been stating in my blog for weeks, the Eagles are massive frauds, and they've shown it by losing 3 games in a row. Now, this game is in Philly, and it will be in the high 20 degree range, so that certainly favors the Eagles. And this Raiders team stinks. Their offense line is terrible. But the Eagles defense isn't all that good, ranking in the bottom 12 in yards per game allow, but top 10 in points allowed. But it's their offense that isn't clicking, also ranking bottom 10 in yards per game and middle of the pack in points per game. Granted the Raiders rank dead last in points per game and second to last in yards per game. I just see 12.5 as way too many points for an Eagles team that only has 1 double digit win all year. I'm hoping the Raiders can keep it close, but I'll take another backdoor cover if need be.
